Jaw Unwinding

We talk with it, chew with it, yell with it, smile with it, grimace with it, clench with it, bite off more than we can chew with it, kiss with it and the list goes on … Jaw unwinding is about giving this power area of the body a chance to reflect, unwind, release, come back to balance.

When we are moving at high speeds through life, dealing with multiple or frequent conflict, grappling with anxieties about performing in life, or simply through accident or injury our jaws hold an enormous amount of tension.

For many people, holding jaw tension is like breathing air - it has become part and parcel of your world and you do not know how to stop! Well I know how to help you release the tension and rewire your brain to release not acculumate tension in your jaw.

The jaw has 16 muscles attached to it — only surpassed by the shoulder blade. In an unwinding session releases in the jaw can also relieve tension in your upper body and neck.

The muscles that attach to the jaw are released. They are only tiny, but they are strong, working 24/7 and therefore can hold a lot of tension for long periods of time. Plus we work with the bony articulations (NO manipulation is involved) to allow proper movement at the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).

In further treatment we work with the upper cervical (neck) area to release muscular and bony restrictions which impact the jaw.

Through clinical experience we see how pelvic imbalances and the jaw are interconnected. So don’t be surprised if in treating one, we work with the other. We work both to ensure your body support is straight and that releases hold over time.
